Composite Sun Oh so Random Post

I started to think about the composite sun while having a conversation with someone today. The Sun in the composite chart is the soul of a union, partnership, friendship etc. This person mentioned I know more about them than anyone else at our job. He mentioned he is very private. I already knew this, his sun is conjunct his Nadir more commonly known as the IC or 4th house cusp.

The Nadir is one of the four angles, each angle ruling a different facet of life. It is also one of the karmic houses along with 8th and 12th. The 4th house rules our family, our ancestry, our roots, our home base, it rules the mother, real estate, the unconscious, the hidden, and it’s the lowest part of the chart and represents the beginning of life and the end of life. From the womb the start of life to the tomb the end of life where we are buried under ground. The Nadir or 4th house cusp is the lowest part of the natal chart.

Together this person and I have a composite 4th house Sun. When he said that I know more about him I immediately remembered our composite 4th house Sun and admired the fact that astrology can often be obvious. No need to go looking at asteroids and searching for fixed stars. If it is written it should be right there in plain view. None of this his Karma conjuncts my Psyche and trines the 5th house cusp. No. The 4th house rules midnight. We met late at night, we met while working overnight.  I find that to be perfect if not even funny.

The Composite sun and moon give indicators as to the purpose of the relationship   (A relationship can be a spouse, a friend, an employer, a lover, a parent). The sun often being the focal point of the relationship of the 2 parties involved you can follow the aspects to see how it plays out.

The composite 4th house Sun often builds a home together, this is not my particular experience but I have found myself saying “you feel like home to me” there is an ease when communicating with this person and I feel like I have known them always in a way. Familiarity and a certain level of comfort exist, I suppose. The literal manifestation as us having met late at night and I can attest to the fact that something is private about the connection with him. I do not speak about him to others. Or I guess I should say I rarely do, but not my inner workings, not my thoughts or feelings. Under different circumstances I think I could have cared deeply for him as a composite 4th house suggests…but that’s a whole other post. You get the gist comfort; home, familiarity, and privacy are themes. Our composite sun conjuncts Mercury (communication) makes a trine to Uranus and squares Pluto. Text book would say we have a mental connection, accept one another’s eccentricities, but the square from Pluto says nothing here is light. Pluto transforms whatever it touches

I had a dreaded composite 6th house sun with my plutonic love. The 6th house is the house of health, work and servitude! This is not where you want your relationship sun. We also had an exact Sun conjunct Jupiter the planet of excess. Jupiter multiplies whatever it touches your joys and your sorrows. Someone once said we could have never lived a real life together because we would have never gotten anything done. We existed in a bubble (Sun opposite Neptune). There was drinking, slow dancing and music, bubble baths and fire place flickers. On the plus I felt we communicated dare I say telepathically. (You will never understand until you have lived it) But at the end of the day the 6th house is not a happy house, unless you work together. I have a composite 6th house with a coworker, I love her but I don’t want to marry her! Plutonic Love and I knew each other as children. His words: he always liked me. I didn’t like him, we had childhood issues I don’t care to write about it here. But in short I didn’t like him and he would write me letters and god I don’t even know if I read them. Years later we reconnected I was crazy about him, he married someone else. The balance is always off. He still had pictures of us as children handy. (Oh the things we carry with us always). I was not in a good place when showing up on his doorstep 15+ years later. Emotionally I was vulnerable and here in itself lies several Sun in 6th house issues. This is the house of servitude, servant to master, the employee to the boss; one party in the relationship has the upper hand.  Obviously it changes from time to time, who has the power that does not. Often this shows up in extramarital affairs. There is a sense of inequality with the composite 6th house sun. Someone is sacrificing something, I didn’t see it at the time but even in the most perfect circumstances we would have had to sacrifice ourselves to be together. I wouldn’t have believed it at the time I was too busy making deals with god to bring us together, but we would not have made each other happy.  I will also say this position doesn’t particularly cultivate healthy relationships patterns. My personal quote regarding my composite 6th house sun is “you had to accept me at my worst because you could have never had me at my best”.

Composite 12th house Sun

I have a friend we share a composite 12th house sun the 12th house rules self-undoing, secrets; it is also a karmic house like the 4th and the 8th indicating knowing one another in a past life or us sharing past life karma. This house also rules prisons, seclusion, dreams and things we do not see clearly. We are friends only and I can say that we often give one another free passes on bad behavior. When we go out it is always “oh have another drink” “oh you want to hook up with so and so go ahead even if he is bad for you” “you only live once” I try to be conscious of the ways we encourage bad behavior in one another but the 12th house is the house of the unconsciousness so that information is hard to grasp. If either one of us has done something we know no one else would approve of, we call one another. We give the green light to indiscretions. We have Sun trine Jupiter unlike the conjunction it lends to caring and forgiveness without excess, we also have Sun trine Neptune, we drink together listen to music and go to the movies; all Neptunian fields. But I’m not hoping he will save me from myself 😉 we have Sun opposite Pluto similar to the square this isn’t a light friendship. There are power struggles, but this is the 12th house ruled naturally by Pisces and Neptune, forgiveness is offered as is turning a blind eye to anything we do wrong out in the world or to each other.

I would love to hear your composite sun story!
It is also worth a mention I have heard the best synastry in the world will not negate the composite chart. The Composite chart is how your relationship functions as a unit, synastry in basically just chemistry and we all know sometimes the best chemistry isn’t enough to build a life.

Happy New Year Love and Light! xo

Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber

selenaimagesimages1imagesCAXXBP5R
With so much of Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber breaking up to make up in the media I had to look at their synastry. When I told my Libra friend I was going to look at their astrology and remarked that I like the two of them together, she asked me why? And quickly added they are like Rihanna and Chris Brown Part Two! I enjoy a young love, here is the thing when you are young you can date someone just because; you don’t have to think about how the rest of your life is going to be, if you like his mother, if his friends like you, do you want children together, does he have a 401k and company stock options. When you are young you simply can date just because, he is cute, she is fun, you like the same music. I enjoy watching young love. Too bad they don’t realize that this is the easiest time in their entire lives it only gets harder with age
So let’s take a quick peek at this apparently on and off again duo.

The beautiful Selena Is a Cancer Sun with an Aries Moon; I have the same combination. We can be emotionally volatile. There is an inner struggle; the cancer sun says I need you, prone to possessiveness, neediness, let’s stay home and nest whereas the Aries moon in emotionally impulsive prone to what my coworkers dubs: The Novella Syndrome Ya know like the Spanish soap operas, yelling and storming out, I love you one minute and I can’t stand you the next. She is stronger then she looks, I would say she is actually the stronger of the pairing.
Justin is a Pisces Sun with a Libra moon. Pisces sun can benefit from a strong partner, look at Rihanna also a Pisces Sun she is attracted to the stronger and more dominant partner, Chris Brown. Pisces Suns are impressionable and can be easily led astray; they can get involved with some unscrupulous people. Guess that explains some of Justin’s recent behavior, hanging around the wrong crowd and I believe allowing less successful entertainers to take advantage of him. He has a Libra Moon he requires partnerships, he is happiest when involved with someone, he seeks cooperation and balance.
Selena and Justin’s Suns their identities are both water based, intuitive, psychic and YES emotional! There Moons however oppose each other her fiery Aries moon the sign of independence, newness and adventure opposes his Libra moon, need for cooperation, harmony and balance.
Not only are there moons in opposition so are there Mercury’s, this is certainly no meeting of the minds here. They may see one another’s point of view but they will never fully understand one another, oppositions in synastry aren’t as difficult as the squares in which one planet struggles for dominance over the other. With oppositions you can see one another but total understanding uh not so much. Add to this the fact they both have Mercury Retrograde in there natal charts. People with Mercury Retrograde in there natal charts often have difficulty expressing themselves, so here we have 2 people with Mercury in 2 opposing signs and they are retrograde. Justin has Mercury is innovative Aquarius, (the lungs are ruled by Mercury, Aquarius rules television and the internet so nice to see how he was discovered) Mercury in Aquarius is prone to thinking they know everything, they think they are smarter then everyone and well Selena has Mercury in Leo, she needs to grand stand and be the star of the show. Perhaps Justin doesn’t permit that because he is too busy being right.
Next up we have Venus the planet of love, how we seek love, express love and wish to enjoy love. Poor Justin has Venus in Pisces he is looking for the merging of souls, love that involves sacrifice, love that is dreamy and all encompassing whereas Selena has Venus in Leo; she is looking for love that is like the movies, dramatic love, passionate love. Leo is rather selfish and all about Leo, wherever Leo is in a chart that planet is prone to being self dominated.
Now let’s look at the aspects
Her Sun in Cancer Squares His moon in Libra; her identity threatens his emotional security and vice versa. They probably struggle to dominate one another.
Mars Square Mars; Mars is the God of War and rules our determination and our sex drive; Selena has Mars in Taurus slow, earthy but VERY stubborn when it comes to change and Justin has Mars in Aquarius; he is a lot more free sexually, has an innovative way of doing things. This indicates a war of the wills, he wants it is his way, she wants it her way and again they fight for dominance. Aquarius and Taurus both being fixed signs indicated they are both FIXED or stuck in their way of doing things.
May I add I’m sure the sex is great with all of this break up to make up and friction makes for some pretty amazing passion. Squares and oppositions= friction friction= passion
Selenas Moon in Aries also Squares Justin’s Uranus very tightly. This indicates instability. Uranus in synastry always indicates instability. Her sun also opposes his Uranus planet of rebellions this is also indicative of sudden break ups to make ups, the fight for dominance also shows with her Mars in Taurus opposing his Pluto in Scorpio. Is she running things or is he running things. Perhaps they are taking turns, something I’m sure she particularly doesn’t care for.
Some interesting House overlays
Each of their Suns fall in the others 8 house; 8th house rules obsessions, sex, the darker side of each other. They probably probe one another psychologically and are able to read one another. Add to this the fact that they are both water signs and naturally intuitive.
Her natal moon falls in his 5th house of love affairs and recreation, I personally like this placement they enjoy one another’s company; they probably dance when they are alone and listen to music. Moon does rules fluctuations so this placement obviously comes with ups and downs. Good luck to both of them may they enjoy it while it lasts.

A quick look at Selena and Justin’s Composite
I have been told you can have amazing synastry but it all comes down to the composite
On a nicer note they have Composite Sun in Taurus forming a sextile to the composite moon in Cancer; Sextiles give a general sense of ease and understanding. There is some debate as to whether the Signs are actually used in composite charts but in any event there is harmony between there wants and their needs. The composite moon also sextiles the composite Venus indicating they enjoy one another’s company; this is a nice aspect that can even indicate they are friends as well as lovers. Hmm and that is where it ends, this is not an easy love with Saturn Squaring Venus planet of love. This over time can indicate at its worst a cold love. You do not want Saturn the planet of restriction in square aspect on the planet of love especially in a composite chart. Also Uranus opposes the composite moon indicating feelings are unstable, on and off again. And may I have a drum roll please, composite Pluto opposes the couples Sun, Mercury and Venus shall I say power struggles galore. This relationship is about power, sex, transformation and destruction with three planets in the composite 8th house. The moon in the 10th is indicative of their emotions out front for the entire world to see. The 10th house rules reputation and honors and in a way how others see you. Mars planet of aggression is in the 7th house, lots of fighting here. And you never really want a 4th house Uranus. The 4th house is the deepest part of a chart; it also represents your home base and your family. You never want the instability of Uranus there. While this couple may at often times be blindly optimistic with Jupiter in the 1st house I am unable to give them my astrological blessing; but really this is what Hollywood couple legends are made of. xo

Composite of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I do not take any ownership of pictures in slideshow. I found them on various sites around the web.

In my previous post I examined the synastry between Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor to see how they responded to one another. Now I’m taking a look at the composite chart to see the themes in their relationship and how it will play out

The Compost chart Ascendant is in Scorpio.

This is not a surprise given the Plutonic theme surrounding their relationship, love, hate, sex, suicide attempts, and the verbal assaults the: I can’t live with or without you overtures. Scorpio naturally rules the 8th house of what is hidden, death, transformation, intense sex and the money of other people. Lets be honest they made a living off of other people paying for their movies.

The Ascendant in Scorpio is very fitting as Scorpio is prone to extremes and maddening jealousy. They traveled together most of the time, watched one another during shoots and often were jealous of everything from co-stars to who had the most Academy Award nominations, From what I have read they often made insulting comments regarding other couples lack of trinkets. Discussing how they had more diamonds and their yacht was bigger than so and so’s. Scorpios are very prone to wanting to feel powerful and exerting power. They exhibited all of these traits.

Yikes! A loaded 2nd house, home to the things you own, the money you make, what you possess and your values. I personally find that people with 2nd house planets want to acquire stuff, stuff makes them feel important. They are emotionally attached to what they own and often treat people in their life like possessions.

First up the Composite Sun is in Capricorn, Capricorn is the sign of career status and reputation. Capricorn is the hardest working sign in the zodiac. I mean Just look at Ryan Seacrest he embodies the spirit of a Capricorn. Does that man ever take a vacation? Well the Composite Sun in Capricorn is really not that much different. It wants status, it wants to make money ESPECIALLY in the 2nd house it does indeed give a business sense to their relationship. Lovers and business partners, which Elizabeth and Richard were. After all they did work with one another on many films, often making it a requirement when one received a role the other would be featured in some sort of capacity. You have to admire the business sense.

I have discussed this in a previous post in regards to my own experience with a 2nd house sun. It is not my favorite location as it gives a very apparent materialistic approach to the couple as well as a strong desire to acquire. With that being said Taylor and Burton were affluent and were then able to bank roll their lavish lifestyle. Even as the press and public slammed them for living in excess (I will never understand why people have an opinion on how other people spend their own money. Give me a break) with that being said along with the Sun the ego and identity of the relationship placed in the 2nd house so is Mars. Mars is where you are aggressive, where you pursue and go after with tenacity. Elizabeth even declaring herself they often lived like “gypsies”. Never lingering for long in one country hoping to move on to avoid tax mandates. The furs, the trips, pets and all the diamonds! Richard once stated he would have bought the Taj Mahal for Taylor if only he could have found away to have it shipped. They knew no limit though towards the end of their relationship it appeared Burton sold out his love for theater just to make money, I’m sure in some way to support him and Elizabeth’s grandiose life style. To keep the gravy train going. They also have Saturn in the 2nd house which often indicates the feeling of never having enough. Odd for two people who seemed to have it all. When they 1st separated he declared she could have it all. In his natal chart money doesn’t seem to define him, however when they came together as a single unit, their combined energies changed all of that. And this is what is known as the composite chart.

“I introduced Elizabeth to beer; she introduced me to Bulgari”-Richard Burton

The Composite Moon in Libra placed in the 11th house of like minded friend’s hopes and wishes gives a lighter tone to their relationship. It shows it is based on friendship. They act as a single unit and often enjoy the company of others. Together the hosted many parties and were known to travel with an extensive entourage. However there moon in Libra is forming an opposition to Uranus in Aries the planet of unexpected, rebellion and surprises indicating there partnership was quite unstable. Each party challenges the other and their ideas that at worst is destructive while at best provide growth and change.

Venus is nestled in the 3rd house of communication giving a love of the spoken and written word. Richard often penned Elizabeth beautifully written letters and wrote extensively about her in his lengthy journal entries. Verbalizing how you feel becomes quite important. Venus is the 3rd opposing Neptune in the 9th gives a highly romantic nature, where you tend to idealize your partner. The words in which Richard used to describe Elizabeth were almost like art in itself (Venus does rule art and beauty) The New York Times best seller: Furious Love featured a photograph of Elizabeth Taylor where Richard had inscribed on the back

“She is like the tide, she comes and she goes, she runs to me as in this stupendous photographic image. In my poor and tormented youth, I had always dreamed of this woman. And know when this dreams occasionally returns. I extend my arm and she is here…by my side”

Finally Pluto in the 8th house makes everything intense and adds to the already plutonian theme. There is an obsessive quality to Pluto in the 8th house partnerships. Sex is intense but is never really just sex, it transcends the physical it is binding even when you want to let go. Anytime I see Pluto in the 8th house partnerships I think of Katy Perry’s song E.T

You’re so hypnotizing Could you be the devil? Could you be an angel?
Your touch magnetizing Feels like I am floating Leaves my body glowing
They say, be afraid You’re not like the others Futuristic lover Different DNA They don’t understand you
You’re from a whole ‘nother world A different dimension You open my eyes And I’m ready to go Lead me into the light

But Perhaps Richard Burton said it best when he declared:

I might run from her for a thousand years and she is still my baby child. Our love is so furious that we burn each other out.”
