When I think of sibling wounds, I think of Chiron/Mercury hard aspects, Chiron in the 3rd house, or Chiron in a hard aspect (conjunction, square, or opposition) to the ruler of the 3rd house. Chiron in astrology is the wound we can never fully heal; even when we think we are beyond it, it has a way of creeping in. While watching The Iron Claw this weekend, I thought about many things, first and foremost, what is the common link amongst the brothers, and what was the astrology of Kevin Von Erich, the lone surviving brother. We do not have birth times for any of the brothers, so I went with noon. The one thing that was obvious in the charts was the Chiron/Mercury hard aspect in all of the brothers except Mike (keep in mind, he very well may have Chiron in the 3rd house, but without a birth time, I am limited in scope)

Mike Von Erich
Was the only brother that did not have the Chiron/Mercury Aspect; however, other wounds were evident, specifically father wounds. Keep in mind, as I mentioned above, we do not have a birth time.

The pain of Chiron is visceral; it is deep, cutting and acutely painful.
You can go on for a long time without the Chiron wound being activated but when it is; it is raw and cutting.
When Astrologers discuss Chiron/Mercury, they often mention issues with communicating or a person who perpetually questions their own intellectual prowess. I am not saying these wounds are not present; they certainly can be. I have 3 clients who are TV presenters who struggle deeply with communication in their personal lives. But often this wound does not end with self-expression. The 3rd house in astrology is naturally associated with Mercury, which governs communication, but the 3rd house is also associated with siblings. I see it often between siblings that do not speak, or one that is an addict, one that has a different father, so the two do not communicate, or in this case, the siblings that died under sad circumstances. These brothers were born after the firstborn son, Jack, died at the age of 6; they were born into an environment of grief. They were born to parents who had lost a child; they incarnated with a sibling wound- that loss was already present.
Aside from the sibling wound, each of these brothers were deeply impacted by their father figure. He has a profound impact on his children, and I will not sit here and state astrological falsehoods that the impact was not always positive. The Mother almost seems like she was in the background here, not a forceful presence in the children’s lives.
Kevin Von Erich publicly has defended his father, stating =his father was “a great man. I loved him so much.” This is reflected in his Sun conjunct Venus aspect. According to astrologer Betty Lundstead, “A man with Venus conjunct the Sun is emotionally close to his father”. He was the only brother to have that aspect, so that right there tells us his experience may have been quite different than the others.

Each child receives a different parent because the relationship between a parent and each child is different.
Kevin was the firstborn after the firstborn passed away that in itself likely caused a closer bond between father and son.
That is not to say his chart is easy; it is most certainly not. He has Chiron on the Sun, which is a father wound, and Pluto squaring the Sun, which suggests the father has a powerful psychological impact on the child.
David Von Erich
He has Neptune squaring the Sun, which can make for a Father that is elevated to a god-like stature in the child’s eyes. It is also a marker for me for a father who has an addiction, but I could not find anything about the father having an addiction.

Mike Von Erich
He had Uranus opposite the Sun, which can tell the story of a Father Figure who was erratic. He also had Chiron Conjunct the Sun, which speaks of a Father wound, and Pluto opposite the Sun, which can tell of a father figure that had a profound psychological impact on the child.

Chris Von Erich
He had Uranus conjoining the Sun and Pluto conjoining the Sun which is a similar impact already mentioned above with Mike.

Kerry Von Erich
He had Neptune square the Sun, which can elevate the Father to a god-like stature as well as Uranus opposite the Sun, as mentioned with Mike and Chris, speaks of an erratic Father figure.

Mike, Chris and David all had Mars in hard aspect to the Sun so I would not rule out a father that hit them.
I would like to illustrate a few points.
The Natal Charts will tell you more about the parents than a child will ever reveal.
Chiron is the wound that is never fully healed, and we must nurture and tend to ourselves wherever we have Chiron by house and whatever planet it is asepecting.
Singer/Song Writer and founding member of the 1970s musical group The Bee Gees- Barry Gibb is also the last surviving of his brothers interesting to note that he also has Chiron conjoining the ruler of his 3rd house. He was recently quoted as saying:
“My greatest regret is that every brother I’ve lost was in a moment when we weren’t getting on, so I have to live with that, and I’ll spend the rest of my life reflecting on that,” an emotional Barry Gibb said.
“I’m the last man standing. I’ll never be able to understand that as I’m the eldest.”
